Notification: Sept. 2009. <LI>$985,769 to Minnesota Dept. of Education (MDE) - benefitting Minneapolis and St. Paul Public Schools, from the U.S. Dept. of Education: to expand Advanced Placement programs, and increase access. Notification: Sept. 2009. <LI>$500,000 to Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) - Career & Technical Education from Project Lead The Way, supported by Cargill, Inc., to implement and evaluate the Gateway To Technology middle school STEM curriculum. Notification: January 2009. <LI>$67,500 (2 grants) to MPS - Career & Technical Education from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation, to support Gateway Academy summer camps as well as the overall Pathway to Engineering program. Notification: February 2008, Sept. 2007. <LI>$1.2 million to MPS - Indian Education from the U.S. Dept. of Education, to support native language immersion, best practice preschool. Notification: July 2007. <LI>$25,000 to MPS - Career & Technical Education from the Kern Family Foundation, to support start-up of the Gateway To Technology program. Notification: January 2007. <LI>$20,000 to MPS - Edison High from the Minnesota Dept. of Education, to integrate marketable IT certifications and more college credit into the Business program. Notification: November 2006. <LI>$286,396 to MPS from the US Dept. of Education, Improving Literacy through School Libraries (LSL) program. Minneapolis received the only fully funded grant request in this cycle. Notification: March 2006. <LI>$5,000 to MPS North High and Southwest High from the National Education Association (NEA) to develop Geographical Information Systems courses. Notification: March 2006. <LI>$20,000 to MPS Washburn High from the Minnesota Dept. of Education for development of a secondary-post-secondary Metalworking lab and program. Notification: March 2006. <LI>$297,769 to MPS in Indian Education Formula Funding from the U.S. Dept. of Education. Notification: October 2005 (fourth year of success). <LI>$400,000 to 4 MPS schools from the Minnesota Dept. of Education for Comprehensive School Reform projects. Notification: August 2005. Services provided by Sirius: training, grant review, and writing of district application. Cumulative total over 6 competitions: helped 29 MPS sites garner $6 million. <LI>$90,000 to MPS Career and Technical Education from the Minnesota Dept. of Education to improve and publicize Roosevelt High School's Automotive Technology Magnet. Notification: August 2005. Extends program improvements started with the previous year's $94,000 Magnet grant. <LI>$438,640 over 4 years to MPS Career and Technical Education, from the U.S. Dept. of Education, Women's Educational Equity Act. The grant will help expand and systematize the High Tech Girls' Society. Notification: July 2005. <LI>$26.4 million to MPS from the Minnesota Dept. of Education for federal Title I, II, III & V programs. Notification: July 2005. Service provided by Sirius: editing and technical writing (4 years), consultation re: on-line grant system (1 year). <LI>$25,000 sole source contract to MPS Career and Technical Education, from the Minnesota Dept. of Education. Focus: to expand MPS's Career and Technical Education Survey for statewide use. Notification: June 2005. <LI>$600,000 over 3 years to MPS from the National Science Foundation to develop the International Food Science Academy of Minneapolis. Notification: April 2005. <LI>$5,000 to Greg Hendricks, a teacher at Minneapolis South High, from the MetLife Foundation. The award recognizes Greg's success in connecting schools and community resources through the High Tech Girls' Society. Notification: April 2005. <LI>$75,000 over 2 years to MPS s Construction Education Program from the City of Minneapolis Empowerment Zone. Focus: expanding participation of students residing in the Empowerment Zone. Notification: March 2005. <LI>$36,710 to MPS Roosevelt and North High Schools from the City of Minneapolis Employment and Training Program for summer youth internships in Automotive Services and Construction. Notification: February 2005 (2nd year of success). <LI>$3.1 million over 3 years in Magnet funding to MPS from the U.S. Dept. of Education to establish International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programmes at Hall and Whittier elementaries. Notification: August 2004. <LI>$1.1 million over 3 years to MPS Indian Education for enriched educational programs in math, science and technology. Notification: August 2004. Service provided by Sirius: first draft. <LI>$24,000 over 2 years to MPS Career and Technical Education from Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) to establish a High Tech Girls' Society. Notification: $10K- August 2003, $14K - August 2004. <LI>$50,000 to four MPS high schools from the Kern Family Foundation for Project Lead The Way, an engineering program. Notification: March 2004. <LI>$817,655 - annually renewable for 5 years - to Tri-County Community Action, Inc. from the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services for an Early Head Start program in Crow Wing, Morrison and Todd Counties (Minnesota). Notification: March 2004. <LI>$1.3 million to 4 MPS elementary schools from the Minnesota Dept. of Education for federally-supported Reading First Initiatives. Notification: February 2004. Service provided by Sirius: edited 4 school applications and wrote district portion of the applications. <LI>$10,000 to MPS Career and Technical Education from the Campus Compact Consortium from federal Learn and Serve America funds. Focus: planning of a Food Science education system. Perkins and other grants. Ongoing work with 50+ teachers, program coordinators, administrators and community partners of MPS-CTE programs, since 1996. Began evaluating post-secondary Perkins programs, through Minneapolis Community & Technical College, in 2009. <LI>Document preparation and publication services for The Flavor of Food Science Curriculum Guides, January 2009. <a href="Uploads/MplsFST08eval.pptx" class="link"> Food Science Info</a>. <LI>Nomination of a Minneapolis teacher, Shabaka McKey, and MPS's CTE Director, Wendie Palazzo, for national Building The Future Awards. Both educators won awards for excellence in high school engineering education (2008 & 2009). <LI>Data collection/analysis and technical writing services to Tri-County Community Action Programs (TCC) to develop a Head Start community needs assessment covering Crow Wing, Morrison and Todd Counties in central Minnesota (2007 & 2004). <LI>Nomination of the MPS High Tech Girls Society for a national "Programs That Work" award. Accepted award with MPS representatives, as one of two programs recognized at a Congressional Briefing by the Association for Career and Technical Education and their State Director s Affiliate, the National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity and the National Women s Law Center. June 2006. <LI>Development of collaborative agreements and data collection system for Minneapolis educational institutions, employers and community organizations working to develop a Food Science education system for students in grades 6-16. Ongoing since December 2002. <LI>Development and deployment of certification system for MPS Roosevelt's Automotive Technology Program. The system helps teachers meet and maintain compliance with rigorous NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation) certification requirements. <LI>Development of Title I Supplemental Services provider application for Minneapolis Public Schools, August 2003. <LI>Research/development of educational reform presentation for Minneapolis Public Schools, Indian Education: "Shared Responsibility and Opportunity in Education."
